CBD FAQs - Your Questions Answered
GENERAL QUESTIONS ABOUT CBD
We're more than happy to answer your CBD questions and give further information about our CBD products either in our Website Chat or by email (hello@organicsecrets.co.uk). However, as we're always out and about talking to our customers at markets, there's a good chance that someone else has asked the same thing and we've answered it in this up-dated CBD FAQ section. We'll keep amending and adding as we go too.
What is CBD?
CBD stands for Cannabidiol; which is one of over 100 compounds, known as cannabinoids, found in the hemp plant (hemp and marijuana are species of Cannabis.) CBD is an extract from the hemp plant that is commonly taken as a complement to a balanced lifestyle. Hemp has been used as a nutritionally rich ingredient for thousands of years. It's also one of the oldest and most sustainable crops to be grown in the world.
How Does CBD Work?
CBD binds with endocannabinoid receptors - a naturally occurring series of receptors found in organs all across the human body. "These receptors make up the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) regulates and controls many of our most critical bodily functions such as learning and memory, emotional processing, sleep, temperature control, pain control, inflammatory and immune responses, and eating." Harvard Medical School
What is CBD Oil?
CBD oil means that the CBD extract has been placed in a carrier oil such as MCT or hemp seed oil. CBD oil is one of the most popular ways to regularly take CBD and is commonly available in drops or spray format. These come in a variety of CBD strengths and flavours.
What is CBD Used For?
We can’t make medical claims, but our customers regularly use CBD to help with many mental and physical imbalances in the body. For example, CBD is often taken to assist with the symptoms of sleeplessness; easing stress and tension both physically and mentally, as well as assisting with the regulation of pain management. It can also help to maintain focus and with taking the edge off of the most challenging days.
Is CBD Oil Legal?
The answer to this question is Yes and No! It just depends on where in the world you are. Organic Secrets UK Ltd is based in England– where products containing CBD and CBDa are legal by law, subject to the restrictions below - and we only ship product to UK addresses. Please check the legal position in your own country by searching “Is CBD legal i.......”.
In the UK in 2018 legislation was passed, declaring that products containing CBD were legal in UK law. This means that CBD products produced using Cannabis Sativa L. (hemp) grown outside the UK, can be legally sold as food supplements such as oil tinctures, gummies, jellies, capsule, tablets etc and as skin creams and vape liquids.
However, there are strict regulations in place. To be legal in the UK, any CBD, CBG or CBa product sold on UK shelves and online must contain less than 0.2% THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). THC is the cannabinoid responsible for the psycho-active and addictive reputation of cannabis. As you'll see from our Lab Reports, Organic Secrets CBD Oils contain 0% - only trace amounts of THC. Any amount of THC above this level is considered an illegal substance.
Will CBD Cure My Illness or Condition?
The CBD products sold by Organic Secrets UK Ltd are sold as health supplements to support everyday health & wellbeing. We do not diagnose, treat or cure any illness or disease.
How Should I Take CBD?
CBD and CBD infused products are great to use if you want to support a healthy, natural lifestyle. How Much CBD Should I Take?
Remember that CBD is a natural plant extract, not a pharmaceutical drug. There's no prescribed amount relevant to a particular reason for taking it. Therefore, because we're all individuals, It's just a matter of experimenting with dosage amounts, times of day, different methods (eg: oils/edibles/topicals) We recommend starting with 10 to 20mg but be prepared to go upwards. These amounts may be sufficient but most users will need more. Although CBD is safe, in the UK, there is a recommended maximum daily intake of 70mg. You can download our free CBD dosage chart here
Is It Safe To Take CBD?
CBD is very well tolerated and perfectly safe to take. However care needs to be taken when choosing who to purchase from. As with many industries, there are unscrupulous suppliers around. So make sure that:
- The amount of CBD contained within, is shown clearly on the packaging
- There is a Batch Label on the product - especially for CBD edibles
- Lab Reports should be easily accessible on the company's website. (Lab Reports are third-party tests that will give you a breakdown of the exact content of the product)

Will I Get High from taking CBD?
Unlike the most well-known cannabinoid, Tetrahydrocannabidiol (THC), Canabidiol (CBD) is not psychoactive, meaning that it won’t make you ‘high’ – the sensation most commonly associated with cannabis. To be legal, CBD products sold in the UK must contain less than 0.2% THC.
Does CBD Oil Have Side Effects?

In the UK, CBD products cannot contain THC in levels of over 0.2%. In rare circumstances, some users may experience negative effects after taking CBD such as a reduced appetite, diarrhoea, increased fatigue and drowsiness.
How Will CBD Make Me Feel?
Firstly let me say again that it won't make you feel high. Whatever condition you're taking CBD for, the best description from my own experience and that of customers is that it 'turns the volume down' or 'takes the edge off'. Many customers agree that you really realise the difference that CBD has made to your quality of life, when you stop taking it for a few days for whatever reason!
Are CBD Oil and Hemp Seed Oil the Same Thing?
CBD oil and hemp oil are two different products. Hemp Oil is extracted from hemp seeds and is well-known for its antioxidant qualities rather than endocannabinoid effects. CBD oil is the result of extracting CBD and other cannabinoids from a grown cannabis plant and mixing it with a carrier oil - (which could be hemp seed oil). Our Blog Post "CBD Oil, Hemp Oil, Hemp Seed Oil - What's The Difference?" has more detail.
